"Bush Offers Macedonia Support WASHINGTON (AP) - On the eve of talks with Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski, the Bush administration said Monday it plans to offer him reassurances of continued U.S. support in his efforts to promote peace with ethnic Albanians through dialogue. State Department spokesman Philip Reeker made the comment after the peace process suffered a setback following a weekend clash that left eight Macedonian commandos dead. Reeker blamed ''armed ethnic Albanian extremists'' but the rebels have denied any wrongdoing, alleging that government forces instigated the fighting. |
